Pairings Wine Bar is in the Yorkshire Post

In January, Catherine Scott from the Yorkshire Post visited Pairings to find out what makes the award-winning independent wine bar so special.

What's the PR Story?

Every organisation has a story to tell, however, the way you tell it is not enough to secure column inches.  Successful stories are simple, relevant and more importantly, person-centred.

The story we secured for Kelly and Kate (co-owners and sisters of Pairings) delved into what inspired them to open a wine bar on historic Castlegate in York; the challenges involved in owning a business in the city centre, such as the 2015 York Floods as well as what the team has planned for the future including upcoming Wine Tasting events and looking at the opportunity of opening up further Pairings venues across Yorkshire.

The article was published in the Yorkshire Post newspaper and online on Saturday 19 January and was a huge success. The article has bought new audiences to the Pairings’ venue, increased people’s interests in food and wine matching and more importantly, given the team the team the opportunity to share their business story and the importance of being an inclusive business.

Inclusivity and enhancing people’s experiences of food and drink matching in an informal and fun setting is of huge importance to Pairings Wine Bar. Being inclusive provides the venue with the opportunity to offer something to suit all budgets as well as providing an enjoyable evening of fine wine and shared plates.

Why public relations is important to the hospitality industry?

Public relations is key to ensure that you secure stories time and time again. PR offers you the chance to reach out to new audiences as well as enhance your brand’s reputation locally, regionally and nationally. Working with a Public Relations professional can provide you with the opportunity to reach out to your target market, regardless of whether you are a consumer or B2B facing organisation. Any credible PR specialist will understand the importance of incorporating keywords into your media releases so that they have longevity when published online.

Since Pairings was featured in the Yorkshire Post, this has led to them being featured in other publications including the York Press and the FoodChain Magazine which has provided them with the opportunity to continue to develop their brand awareness.
